It is approaching that time of year again. We will have a table set up at all open houses at the schools for PVE and PVI. We will be set up in the gymnasium at PVE on 9/8, 9/9 and 9/11. We will be located in the lobby at PVI on 9/17 and 9/18 to accept registration for the upcoming wrestling season.
We will also have a table set up during one of the PV Cubs football practices. Date to be announced soon. You will also be able to register at the the mandatory parents meeting on 10/27 at the Old HS Auditorium.
We will be opening the wrestling room up for preseason wrestling in the month of October. This will be for advanced (3rd year and Up) wrestlers only. This is VOLUNTARY to help the wrestlers knock the rust off, compete in a few preseason tournaments to get ready for the upcoming regular season which will start in November. Check the calendar for practice times. We will hold practices on Mondays and Fridays and spontaneously on a Tues, Wed or Thurs if there is inclement weather and the PV Cubs football practice is cancelled. Spontaneous practices will be announced at the last minute via One Call Now phone messaging system and will most likely be held from 7-8:30pm.
Congratulations to Kenneth Yanovich and Chris Hower. They both were awarded shcolarships this year by the Bruins to help further their education.
Please make every effort to ensure that at least one parent or guardian attends the parent meetings. This a great source of information and allows you a forum to raise any questions or concerns. If you miss the parents meetings please see Documents to view a copy of the meeting minutes. This years parent meetings will be held in the Old HS Auditorium and will be 10/27, 11/25, 12/18 and 1/27.
Our goal is to teach the basic skills needed to wrestle now and to build upon through high school. We want everyone to see the rewards of their hard work and to enjoy competing. Above all, we want to show good sportsmanship, win or lose, and how to learn and grow from both. Wrestling teaches self confidence which reaches far beyond the mat and lasts a lifetime.
Here is a great letter written by a father to his son after a disappointing day in a wrestling tournament.
We also have cheerleaders for our wrestlers. Cheerleading is now open to all, with priority given to those that have siblings wrestling for the Bruins.
If your daughter would like to be a cheerleader, please contact our head cheerleading coach.
